  Swamp Soul

We perform Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco dance music because these soulful tunes touch our hearts and make us want to dance. This music from the prairies and bayous of southwest Louisiana combines old-time fiddle with accordion, backed up with rhythm instruments. The songs, sung in Cajun French, reflect the struggles and joys of life. Our hope is that you, too, will find your toe tapping and join us on the dance floor, or enjoy listening in the company of friends and family.

Currently we play monthly dances at the Highliner Pub at Fisherman's Terminal in Magnolia, and the Highway 99 Club in downtown Seattle. We can arrange for brief dance lessons before our performances.

We play for parties, dances, street fairs, and dance camps In the summer of '08 our accordion player and lead vocalist, John Morris volunteered to recruit musicians and manage the sound stage for the Mercer Island Farmer's Market.

In March '08 Jenny Hallenbeck, French teacher of the Shoreline School District commented on the Mardi Gras dance we played for their French Immersion camp, “ When we returned to school on Monday, the high school French students were so excited to tell everyone else what they had done all weekend. Their favorite part of the camp was the dance!”
