Billy Ray Russell
"As Told from The Seattle Times Newspaper"
Billy Ray Russell was born in the coal mines of Virginia.
He Came into the world with a pick in one hand and a guitar
in the other.
With both of his parents working in the coal mines
12 to 14 hours a day. Billy spent the earliest years of his
life often nestled in his grandmother's lap. She would tell
him of the riches of his poverty stricken heritage, the
traditions and stories of a people as old as the hills
themselves.
His family eventually packed up and moved out of the
Appalachian Mountians in search of a more prosperous life.
Their journey ended in the Pacific Northwest.

Billy Ray is a rare breed of the human species, not
often found these days. The man is as unique and interesting
as his music. It has been my pleasure to introduce him to you,
chances are, you will never meet another man like him.
